The Best Audio Interface under $300

Top Audio Interface

A friend of mine asked me the other day what’s the best audio interface under $300. He was afraid he won’t get quality on that budget. I had to disagree, because you’ll find lots of audio interface under $300 that will fit amazing into your home recording studio setup. Here is my top choice:

Saffire PRO 24 from Focusrite is one of the best Audio Interface under $300. What you probably don’t know about Focusrite products, is that they provide the best audio quality possible. This interface is perfect for musicians who record in their personal recording studios. The basis of this device are two award winning Focusrite mic preamps. Together with the newest mixing software for mixing and FireWire technology, this interface is a stable and versatile performance.

Features and price (via Amazon)

24 channels of I/O (16 In, 8 Out)
2 award winning Focusrite mic-pres, 8 ADAT in, 6 analog out, SPDIF/Stereo in/out, MIDI in/out
2 unique loop-back virtual channels for routing between software applications
Bundle: Xcite + Software Bundle, Ableton Live 7 Lite, and Focusrite Comp/Reverb/EQ/Gate VST/AU plugin

This audio interface is the best looking out of all Focusrite. Great review thanks

Thanks for this review. However I do believe that there is something better in the USB than Focusrite Saffire 6 USB.

I have found this chart in the Focusrite website which compares quite a few audio interfaces of theirs: http://www.focusrite.com/comparison_chart/

Looking purely feature-wise Scarlett 816 seems to be quite better than Saffire 6 USB. I have checked out some reviews in amazon ant it seems that when driver issues were all fixed up it is quite a powerful audio interface. What would you think of it?

Yes – this is NOT the best Focusrite sub-$300 card. It WAS, but the Scarlett series is what you want, Saffire is legacy product and not working well with ANY newer laptop (core i5 – i7)
